Your Opinion: Meeting New People

A lot of older gay men complain that they have a hard time meeting new friends. They often feel a sense of isolation. Leave a comment below and let us know:

  1. If this is true for you and what is your experience?
  2. Or, if it's not true, where do you tend to meet new people?

We want to hear from you.

I have to agree that it is difficult to meet people when you hit the big 40, especially if you are single and interested in dating. It would seem that people are either in a relationship or just not interested in forming something other than a one-night-stand.

The ironic part of all this is that it is much easier for me at this age (46), to find sex partners.

I'm so glad to find this site. I am a middleaged gueer who did not accept my gayness until I was in my 50's. I feel that I have lost out twice. Once by coming to myself so late and not having the chance to experience the gay life as a young person. I hope that others in my situation will help with ideas to recover some of what we missed.

Finding myself partnerless after 32 years and in my late 50's, I found it almost impossible to find others even to talk to, let alone have a relationship with. Then I met a great guy on the internet, met for coffee, had a great night (weekend) of sex, then we decided that friendship was really more suited to our relationship. Through him, I have now found a gay group in my town who have several outings and functions together, and now at least I can talk to others of my age. As for a new partner, well time will tell.

My partner and I do not share the same taste in friends....while he tends trust everyone no matter how shady they seem to be, I have to know someone a while before I really let them get close to us....I have worked hard for the things I have and do not want some drug crazed idiot breaking into my house to feed his habits. Just for the record...5 of the past 7 frends we have made have screwed us over in some way. SO YEAH I DO FEEL ISOLATED....it is the only dafe way to be

Ilive in seattle the most gay arrogant city in usa//
I find when you reach 50 they tell old trolls to go home and die..
I have joined several gay groups
but you know the scenario the middle age ignore you for the younger .. I got tired as many older gays going to clubs I stay home now and putter in the garden and my house..
I have plenty of gay sex but no one for a long term relationship..
I get tired of being ignored so I ignored all charities also..
I did not for years but I got tired of being screwed over in seattle...
